Samuel A. Delgado
Vice President of External Affairs, Verizon New Jersey
Samuel (Sam) Delgado is Vice President, External Affairs, for Verizon New Jersey. He is responsible for matters related to the company’s external environment including philanthropy, municipal and county relations, urban and educational initiatives, and public relations. He and his team also support Verizon’s New Jersey line of businesses. Sam is a retired Marine Corps Reserve Combat Communications Officer with 20 years of experience, having served during Desert Storm and on the personal staff of New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly in the Republic of Haiti as an International Police Monitor. His community affiliations have included: Founding Board Member, Robert Treat Academy Charter School, former Board Member of La Casa de Don Pedro, and former Board Member, ASPIRA Inc. of New Jersey. He was appointed by Newark Mayor Cory Booker to serve as a Board Member of Newark’s Brick City Development Corporation and on the Board of the Newark Workforce Investment Board. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Newark Museum, and Council of Regents of Felician College. Mr. Delgado serves on the Board of Advisors for Rutgers Business School and served as past Vice Chair of Leadership New Jersey. He is a 1978 graduate of Marist College with a degree in political science; a graduate of the Marine Corps Basic School, Quantico, Virginia and a 2004 Leadership New Jersey Fellow. He and his wife, Esmeralda Diaz Cameron, currently reside in Newark, New Jersey.
