A Newark landmark built in the Art Deco style in 1931, The National Newark Building underwent a $60 million renovation in 1999 and 2000 to transform it into a state-of-the-art office tower. Improvements included new insulated windows, high-speed fiber optics, upgraded electric capacity, new HVAC systems, an architecturally true renovation of the lobby and common areas, and an exterior lighting program.
