Highlighted in BCDC’s third issue are some of the major groundbreakings and business attraction achievements that serve as a catalyst for Newark’s economic growth. More than 25 development projects broke ground or are under construction. These projects represent over $700 million in construction activity and will create more than two million square feet of new or renovated space. And most importantly, these projects are projected to create over 2,500 on-site construction jobs and 2,500 permanent jobs. We have taken the approach of viewing our city’s development projects in a “pipeline to finish line” continuum. It has been rewarding to help bring projects to fruition. Groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, loan closings and lease signings are the results we share and celebrate.
