O’Brien Kelley – Director of the Newark Office of Film and Television


O’Brien Kelley began his film career in 2004 when Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe asked him to executive-produce a script they had commissioned called Beautiful Ohio. O’Brien has since gone on to serve as Executive Producer for Michael Almereyda’s Tonight at Noon (starring Ethan Hawke and Lauren Ambrose); Consulting Producer on Cynthia Wade’s Academy Award® winning LGBT-equality documentary Freeheld; is currently working with actor/writer Emma Thompson on a Victorian period piece; and is also currently producing a marriage equality documentary called Proposition Apartheid. For each of his films, he has sourced production and post-production financing; negotiated and drafted investor agreements; navigated the festivals and awards application processes; and overseen other business aspects of the projects.
